THE PERSONAL TRAINING SPECIALIST TEAM
Introducing our Personal Training Specialist team
Our Mentor
Ryan Carey
Ryan Carey has spent his life studying what it takes to perform under pressure, and he has lived most of it himself.
Before the uniform, Ryan played professional football in the Canadian Football League and built his coaching foundation as a strength coach at Acadia University working with the football and hockey programs. That led to a career as a personal trainer at GoodLife Fitness and in private practice, where he learned that the principles that build elite athletes are the same ones that build functional, resilient human beings.
Ryan served 14 years in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Regiment. He didn’t leave performance behind when he enlisted. He brought it with him, applying everything he knew about physical and mental conditioning to the soldiers he led.
Today Ryan serves as Senior Director of Military Engagement at Concussion Legacy Foundation Canada, leading Project Enlist and delivering Operation Brain Health programming directly to veterans, serving members, and their families. Operation Brain Health addresses the real and often invisible weight of TBI, PTSD, and long-term brain trauma through education, lifestyle strategy, and peer support. He takes that work beyond the institutional level, applying it with private clients and inside peer support environments where trust has to be earned before anything else lands.
He is also Director of Performance at Selwyn House School in Montreal, an all-boys school where students compete in three sports per year. He doesn’t just coach athletes. He coaches teachers on how to get the best out of their students through performance principles, recovery, and relaxation techniques, helping kids become better students, better artists, and more capable people. Ryan also develops structured training programs for educators, helping teachers build the physical habits that make them more resilient inside and outside the classroom.
Ryan is the founder of Into Chaos, a life performance ecosystem built on a single premise: life will not become orderly. Strength is the only honest answer.
Ryan is the co-founder of Operation Purify, a healing and restoration retreat in Colombia built around Ayahuasca and indigenous ceremonies. It exists for veterans and their families who did everything asked of them and still came home carrying a weight no debrief ever touched. Ryan brings his own experience to this work, not as a guide standing outside it, but as someone who has sat in it himself.
Ryan is also a musician. He writes songs the way he has lived, without pretense and without flinching. A veteran and a father, he makes music about the things people carry long after the event is over.
Ryan shows up to spaces like Boots to Barbells because the veterans in this room already have what most coaches spend years trying to develop. His job is to help them see it and use it.
