Karl MacPhee is a Canadian Armed Forces veteran (3PPCLI) who served in Bosnia on Op Palladium in 1997. During his service, he competed on his battalion hockey and cross country running teams, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to discipline, teamwork, and performance.

With over 20 years of experience in health, fitness, and coaching, Karl brings a diverse and integrated background to his work. He studied Physical Education at the University of Alberta, completed the Personal Fitness Trainer Program at NAIT, and earned his LPN diploma through Columbia College. His certifications include Precision Nutrition Level 2 Coach (PN2), Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), and Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation.

Karl has worked as a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, endurance sport and hockey coach, and life coach. He has coached athletes from minor hockey to the professional level, supported hockey academy programs throughout Alberta, and served as a strength and conditioning coach at Ross Sheppard High School. As an athlete, he represented Team Canada in triathlon at the 2006 World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland, and competed at national championships with Team Alberta in floorball.

In addition to his performance background, Karl works as a nurse and advocates for long-term health and sustainable performance. His coaching philosophy is rooted in the Co-Active model, emphasizing partnership, accountability, and the belief that each person is naturally creative, resourceful, and capable.

As a mentor with Boots to Barbells, Karl supports veterans as they transition into meaningful careers in health and fitness, helping them channel their military strengths into a new professional identity and sustainable future.
